Last week we had the pleasure of working with our own Washoe County. We spent the day strategizing with the Board of County Commissioners on some great topics. We reviewed their current mission, vision and values and updated them accordingly. The passion and dedication of the Commissioners was seen in their determination to solidify their plan and make the appropriate changes so that it has a clear direction for the community. By thinking regionally, instead of just on the county alone, they shifted their mission statement to, “Working together regionally to provide and sustain a safe, secure and healthy community”. An emphasis on thinking regionally and on sustainability was definitely a theme for this meeting.
We also ran through an environmental scan exercise that produced thoughts that we then put into a SWOT analysis. Through these exercises, Washoe County will be able to create a sustainable plan that will guide the community clearly. It will be exciting to see what the next steps are and see how the strategic plan develops.
