Last week, the OnStrategy team escaped the office for a day to ride the rapids of the American River in California. It was a great team-building exercise that got us out in the sunshine to enjoy our team dynamic. Here are few highlights:
As a team, you have to set time aside to bond: It was awesome to get out from behind our computer screens to go enjoy the California sunshine together. Part of being a tight-knit team is getting to know each other outside of the office.
Like strategy, rafting requires communication, collaboration, and precision execution: Rafting is not unlike strategic planning. It required us to put our thinking caps on, listen, communicate, and work together to achieve our goals. The context is a bit different, but the principals are the same.
It was awesome to push some of our team member’s personal boundaries: This definitely pushed some of our team members beyond their comfort zones. But, it was a great way to build team trust and support each other throughout the experience.
