Driving Transformational Change for County Master Planning in Douglas County, NV

Aug 24, 2017

It’s easy to be over-burdened with the immediate day-to-day activities that need to be addressed to keep your organization running smoothly. For a county municipality, it’s a constant struggle to maintain its infrastructure and service the needs of the community.

This burden is often the main reason organizations let strategic planning and execution fall by the wayside. In the case of Douglas County, Nevada, they’re moving to leverage strategic planning as the avenue to create a master plan to maintain their current services and create a plan that ensures their community will thrive in the years to come.

They engaged their elected officials and community to create vision for the county and then a five-year plan to get there. After completing their first strategy review last week, it’s amazing to see Douglas County’s enthusiasm as they begin working toward their long-term goals while maintaining their day-to-day activities.

Sometimes running an organization (particularly a County Municipality) can be daunting, but finding the right balance between the day-to-day and the long-term is key to success. Douglas County is well on their way to finding the balance!
